The Library book rate remains the same with no zone restriction. The weight limit on 3rd class mail has been increased from 8 ounces to 10 ounces. A vehicle driven by Donnie Hiser was washed off highway 640 and emergency crews began an immediate evacuation of homes and businesses near Rogers Creek. The most extensive damage in Edmonton was at Harlow Furniture on 60/80 reporting about 75 percent of the merchandise was damaged. Cavanah’s IGA reported approximately three inches of water in the store, but very little damage to stock. At the Don Butler Stables, men waded water waist deep to rescue stranded horses inside the barn. The Edmonton Stockyards on the north side of town, along with a few homes on South Fork Creek were flooded. A section of the city reservoir dam was washed down the spillway, but no break occurred. City Superintendent, Phillip Smith organized a sandbagging crew to repair the damage.
